We are happy to report the completion of a chorus based on the haiku poems of four seasons Shirao composed. the chorus will be sung at the National Haiku Meeting which is to be held on November 3 (Wednesday) to commemorate the 209 th anniversary of Shirao's passing. The four haiku poems which appear in the chorus are follows.
Hito koishi hitoboshi koro wo sakura chiru
"Yearning fills my heart / When the candles are lit; / Cherry blossoms fall."
Shobuyu ya shobu yorikuru chi no atari
"Calamus bath water: / Leaves of the calamus coming / Close to my nipple."
Meigetsu ya manako husageba umi to yama
"Under the bright autumn moon / I close my eyes: / Ah,the sea and the mountain! "
Suterarenu mono wa kokoro yo huyugomori
"Shutting myself up in my winter room: / My mind, / I can't give it up!"
The composer of the chorus is Shozo Koyama, professor emeritus of Kunitachi Music College. The chorus is to be sung by the Ueda Gloria Chorus on November 3.
